Out of the blue, for some time Windows 10 saves some images in JFIF format instead of the traditional JPG. This has been most clearly seen for some time with the Whatsapp application. If you try to upload a JFIF image directly to a website, it will not work.
Why is this happening? Most likely due to some Windows 10 update, which thought it was easier to handle a .jfif than a .jpg. It's annoying though.
The picture above should be easy enough for IT and Computer enthusiasts to understand, but we explain what it refers to below:
The change to Whatsapp is more of a change to Windows, which will also affect Whatsapp. To solve the problem, press the Windows key and the R key together and enter the Run command panel. Here you type "regedit" and you will enter the DNA of your system. Here, you need to find the location:
Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\MIME\Database\Content Type\image/jpeg
You could even try to go that route with Copy-Paste. Double-click on Extension and change what's there from .jfif to .jpg. The solution should work without requiring a system restart.
Good luck!
